Hello, friends, and welcome to Episode Three of the conversion lab podcast. My name is Rachel and I am so excited to have you here at my table friends. Today in Episode Three, we’re going to be talking about building your email list with three simple steps. Okay, it’s time to talk list building and growth. Did you know that less than 6%? That’s right 6% of your followers see your social media content.

Wow, right that I read that number and my jaw dropped. Let’s put some perspective on that. If you have 1000 Instagram followers, likely only 60 of them will see your latest curated well thought out post that contained a perfectly done image and 20 minutes of putting together content 60 of your thousand followers. Now, if I have an email list with 1000 followers on it, and I have an open rate of let’s just say, you know, 35%, which you know is pretty great, but also pretty standard. That’s 350 people that will likely open my email 60 350. I mean, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see the discrepancy there. And know that having a curated and cultivated email list can really help you grow your business. I know it can seem scary when it comes time to put together an email list. And I know that for myself, I struggle with it. And I know what I’m doing. So I can’t imagine if I’m just starting out. But I’m going to give you these three simple steps to help you start yours. First things first, you have to choose a provider. And I love FLODESK. FLODESK is new to the scene. They’re still in beta. They do have some glitches and some hiccups, but they’re working really hard. And at $19 a month for an on limited number of subscribers and emails, you cannot beat it. We’ll put a link in the show notes so you can pick up your subscription. FLODESK also has a plethora of gorgeous templates that you can start off with, you don’t have to recreate the wheel, my friend. And on top of all of that, you can also build out your workflows, segments, everything right there in their program. And it’s super, super simple. we dive in deep in the lounge on how to use flow desk in your business. And today we’ve included our six debt day list lab challenge, so you can spend the next six days cultivating and building your list. Now after you’ve chosen your provider, and there’s obviously lots of great options out there. ConvertKit mailer light MailChimp, you have to choose what’s going to work best for your business. There’s a lot of things missing in flow deaths for me as well as far as integrations and various items like that. So they might not be the right fit for your business. But you must choose a provider. Step two, you need to choose an opt in a freebie a lead magnet, some piece of content collateral that you’re going to offer up in exchange for their email address. We’ve all done it. We subscribe and then we start receiving emails. Well, we want to be the person sending those emails out, coming together and figuring out what would be a really great lead magnet or freebie for your business can also seem daunting. It’s not though friends, you need to sit down with a piece of paper and brainstorm three to four topics that you’re really great at items that you know better than anybody else, and then develop a freebie based on that. If you’ve been listening at all to the podcast, you’ll know that we give away one freebie each episode, an episode one, we gave away a homepage checklist. And Episode Two, we gave away an entire module on setting up your welcome workflow in Dubsado. And in this episode, a six day lists lab challenge workbook to help you build your newsletter list. The amount of content that goes into a freebie is all sort of based on your business type and how much you want to give away, I highly recommend you give away just enough enough to want to have that client learn more about your business. Learn more about you purchase the product that accompanies that item. We do a freebie with each podcast episode to make ourselves stand out to give you a piece of collateral at the end of each episode. So that you want to come back each week and gradually build your business by listening to the podcast. Now we have that really great louder you can dive in depth. And so if you’re ready to take the leap, you can. But if you don’t have the budget or you’re not ready to do so then you can listen to the podcast each week and gathered tons of great content to implement in your business. Honestly, the podcast is one giant freebie for us. Now, the big one, you have to launch your offer. So let’s say you’re a photographer, and you’ve decided I’m going to give away my top 10 poses for branding photography, you’ve put together a great freebie and Canva, super simple and easy. downloaded the PDF, you set up your workflow and their provider of choice. And you’re all ready to go. Well, now what? Well, now you have to rely on your warm audience. That’s right, those people who already love you, the clients that you already have worked with, and your social media. So I’m not completely opposed to social media, I feel it has a really distinct place in my marketing scheme. I just don’t think it’s the very tip top of my marketing scheme. I don’t have control over it. And I don’t want to put all my eggs in one basket either. So when it comes time to launch my offer, I’m going to launch it everywhere. I want to shout it from the rooftops that I have this great new freebie. Are you looking to have branding photography done in the near future, check out these 10 poses. Okay, so three steps. And they don’t you don’t even have to have a website to start your email list. I promise you. One of the things I love about float S is that it has built in landing page that you can just set up immediately and start building that newsletter list before you’re even ready to launch.

So choose your provider, choose an opt in a freebie any of those type of options. Make sure you have a call to action in that freebie. Don’t forget those CTAs launch your offer everywhere. Now, how is building a newsletter list going to help your business be seen? Well, by offering an opt in for your business, it will help you grow your list. And when you have a strong list. You can grow your business exponentially. It’s not always a numbers game either my friends, you can have 10,000 people on your email list. And if regularly only 100 of those people purchase from you or engage with you, then you really only have 100 people on your list. So keep in mind that you want to cultivate a really healthy email list. Number two, how does this help you scale your business? You scale your business by cultivating that list, making sure that you’re giving those people on your list really great content all the time. You want to give about 90% of interesting, engaging content. And then 10% sales, look all these amazing things that you can do blah, blah, blah, and then you should buy this program, you should buy this service, you should buy this product. You don’t want that to be the lead in on every email. Now obviously we’re going to go through phases where we’re launching a course

We’re launching a service a course whatever it may be, and they’re going to be a lot more sales heavy. We always want to make sure that we’re tying back in that 90% engaging type of information in those emails, though. Number three, how does having a great email list help you sell? Well, that seems pretty obvious to me. If you have an email list, you can sell your products and services through your list. Let’s go back to that early example. Social media 60 people saw that post. And if I’m on Instagram, I don’t have a hyperlink, I have to go out to my link and bio and then I have to hit another button, and so forth. If I’m opening an email 350 people, mind you, I can have a simple Buy button, Learn More button, it’s just so much easier. So seen by offering an opt in for your business scale. scale your business by cultivating a list that helps you grow your business, and sell your business through that list. sell your products and services to those people on your list.
